Ars Respirandi is an educational wellness product. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Nothing in the app, the AI Coach, or the blog constitutes medical advice.

    Consult a clinician before starting

Speak to a qualified healthcare provider before using breathing techniques if any of the following applies:

    • You are pregnant or trying to conceive.
    • You have uncontrolled high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease.
    • You have a cardiac arrhythmia, a history of stroke, or an implanted pacemaker.
    • You have epilepsy, a seizure disorder, or a history of loss of consciousness.
    • You have severe or uncontrolled asthma, COPD, or other chronic respiratory disease.
    • You have panic disorder, PTSD, or a severe mental health condition.
    • You have diabetes and take insulin or medications affecting blood sugar.
    • You have a kidney disease, sickle cell disease, or serious eye conditions.
    • You have had recent surgery or a recent injury to the head, chest, or abdomen.
    • You are a minor (under 16).

    Practice safely

    • Always practice in a safe, seated position. Never while driving, operating machinery, or in water.
    • Breathing exercises can cause dizziness, tingling, or emotional release. This is normal but a signal to slow down.
    • Stop immediately if you feel faint, chest pain, unusual heart rhythm, severe headache, or acute distress.
    • Progress gradually. Intensity is not the goal — consistency and calmness are.

    The Control Pause (CP)

The CP is a comfort measurement, not a maximum breath hold. Stop at the first definite urge to breathe. Straining invalidates the result and may cause light-headedness.

    Emergency

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately. Ars Respirandi is not designed for crisis support.

    AI Coach

The AI Coach is a supportive educational assistant. It cannot diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or replace a licensed professional. Do not share sensitive medical details expecting clinical judgement.
