Ars Respirandi — "the art of breathing" — is a premium, science-aware breathing and nervous-system regulation platform. We help people who feel anxious, stressed, or unable to sleep learn to breathe better, so their nervous system learns to rest.
Our mission
To make evidence-informed breathing training as measurable, precise, and accessible as step counting is for movement — and to do it without gimmicks, hype, or pseudo-science.
What makes us different
- A single objective marker. The Control Pause (CP) — a validated proxy for CO₂ tolerance and breathing regulation — anchors your practice. You measure it, track it, and see it change.
- Outcome tracks, not exercises for their own sake. Anxiety, sleep, stress, breathing ease, and focus each have structured protocols that map to what the research supports.
- Serious about safety. Clear contraindications, no maximum breath holds, no "activation" fads that ignore individual context.
- An AI Coach that reads your data. Not generic chat — it references your recent CP, sleep, mood, and streaks.
Methodology
Our protocols draw on published work in several converging fields — slow and coherent breathing (Russo, Santarelli, & O'Rourke, 2017), the Buteyko method (Bruton & Lewith, 2005; Bowler et al., 1998), heart-rate variability biofeedback (Lehrer et al., 2020), vagal tone and polyvagal-adjacent frameworks, and mindfulness-based nervous-system regulation.
We are not doctrinaire about any single school. We combine what the evidence supports into simple daily practice.
Editorial standards for our blog
- Every article cites at least three peer-reviewed sources.
- Nothing is described as a cure. Effects are described in the terms the studies use.
- Contraindications and limits are stated, not hidden.
