This page is maintained by Ars Respirandi to answer common privacy questions about the Ars Respirandi app and website. It is app-owned content, not independent verification.
1. What we collect
When you use Ars Respirandi we may process the following categories of data:
- Account data: email address, authentication identifiers, display name.
- Practice data: Control Pause measurements, breathing sessions, journal entries, mood ratings, symptoms you log, streaks and preferences.
- AI Coach data: the messages you send to the AI Coach and the responses generated. These are stored so you can revisit previous conversations.
- Technical data: device type, browser, coarse location derived from IP, crash and performance information.
- Analytics data: anonymous product-usage events (page views, feature interactions) via Google Analytics 4.
2. How we use your data
- To provide the core features you request (measurements, sessions, chat, progress).
- To personalize your Nervous System score, recommendations, and AI Coach context.
- To improve reliability, safety, and quality of the product.
- To communicate essential product and account information.
3. Legal basis (GDPR)
We rely on your consent for optional processing (analytics, marketing communications), contractual necessity for account and subscription management, and legitimate interest for security and product improvement.
4. Sharing and subprocessors
We do not sell your data. We use a small set of privacy-conscious infrastructure providers:
- DigitalOcean (Amsterdam, EU) for hosting and the managed database.
- Google, for sign-in with a Google account (only when you choose it).
- AI Coach model providers (a large-language-model API used to generate coach responses and reports).
- Google Analytics 4 for anonymised usage analytics.
- DigitalPigeon (our own mail service) for transactional email delivery.
5. Retention
Practice data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us; account and related data will be erased within 30 days unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@arsrespirandi.com.
7. Health-related information
Ars Respirandi is a wellness and educational product, not a medical device. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Do not use the product as a substitute for professional medical advice. See our Medical Disclaimer.

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time.
9. Children
Ars Respirandi is not intended for use by children under 16. Do not create an account for a minor.
